Flash X-ray Devices for Pumping Nuclear Materials Developed in the Gamma-ray Laser Program at Texas

چکیده
Progress in construction and scaling of a repetitively pulsed, flash x-ray device producing intense nanosecond pulses is described. This source would be used to excite nuclear fluorescence for the evaluation of candidate materials for a gamma-ray laser. For some applications these devices can offer a table-top laboratory alternative to laser plasma x-rays and to synchrotron radiation.

Evaluation of the Quality Control Program for Diagnostic Radiography and Fluoroscopy Devices in Syria during 2005-2013
Introduction: Extensive use of diagnostic radiology is the largest contributor to total population radiation doses. Thus, appropriate equipment and safe practice are necessary for good-quality images with optimal doses. This study aimed to perform quality control (QC) audit for radiography and fluoroscopy devices owned by private sector in Syria (2005-2013) to verify compliance of performance o...

Introduction Lead-based shields are the most widely used attenuators in X-ray and gamma ray fields. The heavy weight, toxicity and corrosion of lead have led researchers towards the development of non-lead shields. Materials and Methods The purpose of this study was to design multi-layered shields for protection against X-rays and gamma rays in diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine. In this...
متن کاملWater radiolysis by gamma –irradiation for high quality synthesis of Nickel Oxide nano sheet
A simple, time effective and cost effective, methos was reported for synthesis of nickel oxide nanostructure. The NiO nanostructure was synthesized by gamma-irradiation method from NiSO4 precursor. The solution was irradiated by 60Co gamma-ray source at the dose rate of 40 Gy/min for determined time. The synthesized powders are characterized by means of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Energy-di...
متن کاملOptimum driving a Z-pinch for soft X-Ray lasers
A capillary plasma z-pinch as an alternative active medium of soft X-Ray lasers was studied experimentally and theoretically. The theoretical analysis was based on the self consistent solution of the so called “snow plow” model. The dynamics of pinched plasma is determined by the capillary parameters and by the time dependence of electrical current passing through it. The current time dependenc...
